SUSTAIN PROJECT
Sustain /səˈsteɪn/ (verb). sustain means to strengthen, support, or keep something going over a period of time.
The Story Behind The Sustain Project
As a psychotherapist working day in and day out within our community, I see firsthand the incredible resilience of the people who walk through our doors. But I also see how quickly life can shift.
Too often, a sudden, unexpected life event—a sudden job loss, an insurance policy running out mid-year, or an acute personal crisis—forces individuals to make an impossible choice between their financial survival and their mental health. When financial hardship strikes, therapy is frequently the first thing people are forced to cut, right at the moment they need that stable support the most.
I founded Saxum Counselling and Coaching on the principle of solid, grounded support. But true stability shouldn't just exist within the four walls of a therapy room—it needs to be built into the fabric of our community.
I launched The Sustain Project because I refuse to let a temporary financial hurdle dictate someone's long-term mental well-being. This fund exists to ensure that when the ground shakes underneath one of our neighbors, our collective community can step in to keep them steady until they find their footing again.
When you contribute to this fund, you aren't donating to a corporate entity; you are directly matching resources with a local individual who is actively trying to heal, grow, and stay standing.
❋
## How the Fund Operates We run this initiative with strict operational transparency so our community knows exactly how every single dollar is managed:
The Base Cost: Our community program sessions are set at a subsidized rate of $130 per session.
The General Care Fund: Contributed funds are pooled to partially subsidize single sessions or crisis-backup support for clients facing acute financial strain.
Block Sponsorships: Community members or local businesses can sponsor a complete 6-session course of care ($780) to fully back an applicant's therapeutic block.
Important Transparency Notice: Saxum Counselling and Coaching Inc. is a private professional practice, not a registered charity. Contributions to The Sustain Project are non-charitable and are not tax-deductible. Local business owners may, however, choose to claim sponsorships under corporate marketing, community outreach, or advertising expenses.
